Nature provides numerous substances that help with inflammation in the shoulder joints. Even simple massages have a beneficial and healing effect on severe shoulder pain.
Cherry pit pillow
You can buy it or do it yourself – provided you have collected enough cherry pips in the summer. But you should own this heat pad in any case! Especially if you often wake up in the morning with a tense shoulder or suffer from a calcareous shoulder. Unlike the hot-water bottle, the pits release the heat only slowly, and they have a soothing massage effect. Place the pillow on the heater before use or heat in the stove at 130 °C / 266 °F for 10 minutes. Some pillows can be heated in the microwave.
Horse chestnut
The horse chestnut is a classic, which affects aching joints and tension. If you still have fruits from last autumn, you can make a tincture: Peel fruits, mince and sprinkle with 125 ml (4 fl oz) of corn schnapps. Leave in a warm place in a dark glass. Filter and fill into small bottles. The recommended dosage is 10 to 30 drops two to three times a day. You can also rub the shoulder with the tincture. Horse chestnut tincture is also available in pharmacies.

Tennis ball
With the tennis ball you can apply targeted pressure on the aching shoulder area – a wonderful self-massage, if it reaches the right points. It is best to lean against a wall or door and use your own body weight. Roll the ball back and forth a little bit. Then stretch your arms away from you and up, stretching the muscle tissue.
Barley grass
The green grasses have a soothing effect, because they contain enzymes that help with inflammation. For cultivation sow seeds of sprouted barley 5 cm (2 in) deep into the soil and cut off at a height of 10 cm (4 in). Dry in the oven at 30 °C / 86 °F, then pulverize in a blender. Add 1 tsp powder in 200 ml (6.5 fl oz) water, drink 3 times a day
Cayenne pepper
A rub with 2 tablespoons of cayenne pepper, mixed with some lanolin, creates a strong sensation of heat on the affected skin. The alkaloid capsaicin causes a better circulation and vasodilation. It is one of the best substances for pain due to muscle tension, shoulder pain and inflamed mucosa.
Nettle tea
A traditional remedy for joint pain. In laboratory experiments, it was found that the substances contained in the leaves inhibit the inflammatory neurotransmitters in the joint capsules. For a tea cure, dash 1 tbsp dried nettles with 250 ml (8.5 fl oz / 1 cup) of boiling water and filter after 10 minutes. Do not drink the tea for more than 6 weeks. Local use: Rub aching shoulders with the decoction.

Ginger tea
The bitter tuber is an effective therapeutic agent for inflammatory muscle and joint complaints. Responsible for the anti-inflammatory effect are mainly the bitter substances gingerol and Shogaol contained in the ginger. They inhibit the activities of the inflammatory enzyme prostaglandin syntenase-2. For a ginger tea, add 1 teaspoon grated ginger with 1 cup of boiling water and leave for 10 minutes.
Epsom salt baths
Muscle pain causes an increased need for magnesium. The mineral is anti-inflammatory and responsible for the transmission of stimuli between nerves and muscles. Epsom salt contains a lot of magnesium, which can be absorbed by the body during a warm bath through the skin and contributes to the relaxation. The salt is obtained without prescription in pharmacies. For a full bath, add two cups of Epsom salt to the water. Stir it and take a bath for twenty minutes. Take a quick shower and get wrapped warm in bed.
Arnica tincture
In the case of muscle strain in the shoulder area, which can cause shoulder pain, an envelope with arnica tincture has an extremely beneficial effect. Mix 12 g (0.4 oz) dried arnica flowers with 100 ml (3.3 fl oz) alcohol for the preparation. Place in a warm place, shake daily and strain after 2 weeks. Store the tincture in a cool and dark place. For wrapping use arnica tincture in a ratio of 1: 4 with water. Apply several times.
Turmeric
The yellow spice contains curcumin, a natural dye that stops inflammation by inhibiting certain enzymes. For an application, mix a firm paste of 3 tbsp turmeric powder with 2 tbsp olive or almond oil and rub on the aching shoulder. Apply several times daily.
